Bock, an attorney, says he tries to play a conciliatory role. ”We need to find issues that we can agree on.“ And in four years in the Legislature, the Boise Democrat has gotten some results.

He persuaded the 2010 Legislature to pass a bill purging state code of offensive language, such as ”mentally retarded,“ ”lunatic“ and ”idiot.“ He has been a steadfast supporter of a ban on texting while driving — a long-shot idea at first, but a proposal that passed the Senate and died on a last-minute procedural vote on the House floor.
